Hi I’m Beverly Smith. I would have done anything to become a better runner. And I wish someone would have told me that the quality of the food I ate was more important than the quantity. Back then skinny equaled faster. Who knew that if you ate nutrient dense foods you’d actually slim down and you’d be faster because your body had the fuel it needed to work more efficiently? I certainly didn’t. No, instead we were told to cut fat and encouraged to consume processed foods whose natural fats had been stripped. Vegetables were bland and boring. Carb loading on pasta and bread with fake butter were king!

Back then the only thing I had on my side was my youth. In other words, my ability to recover and bounce back despite what I consumed (or didn’t) and I demanded of my body physically. Ultimately, I learned the hard way the importance a healthy diet plays when it comes to training and racing. After years of being sick and injured all the time despite my conservative approach to training, I figured it out. Now I am here to help you navigate the confusion in the world of diets and nutrition so that you don’t have to suffer the way I did. I want you to get the best possible results from all your training and hard work!
